Jamming Session #02 brings you again a mixture of the old and the new, of the trashy and the classy. Download the mixtape by visiting the podcast page.

  1. MGMT – Kids (Tronik Youth Remix): MGMT is hot, this remix by Tronik Youth is groovy!
  2. 101 – Rock To The Beat: Belgian new beat/acid from 1989, produced by Praga Khan head honcho Maurice Engelen!
  3. Niels Van Gogh – Pulverturm (Roppenzo’s B-More Bojangles Edit): Edit by Roppenzo, one of the PTNOTR crew members.
  4. Dr Dre ft Snoop Doggy Dog – The Next Episode: I think Pappy Harder started my personal revival of this song when he played it at Récyclart.
  5. Cypress Hill – Insane In The Membrane (2 Bit Thugs Remix): a quick look into this remix.
  6. Proxy – Ready To Watching: WAMP WAMP WAMP WAMP WAMP!
  7. Run DMC – It’s Like That (2 Bit Thugs Rerub): Yup, another oldskool classic revisited!
  8. The Glimmers – Physical: yes, this is a cover of Olivia-Newton John’s 80’s monster. Belgian Glimmer Twins FTW!!!!
  9. The Shortwave Set – Now till ’69 (Aeroplane Remix): and this jamming session ends with a nice song to dream away with.

Jamming Session #1

3 09 2008

So, the first jamming session. The concept is like this: use some oldskool tunes, mix them up with newer tunes (they call this ‘eclectic’), and mix them in a relaxed I-don’t-really-care kinda way. Download it through the podcast-page (subscribe, or directly through the URL).

  1. Bob Marley – Jammin: yeah, who didn’t expect this tune? 😉
  2. Spank Rock, Dr Dre ft Snoop Dogg, Justice & Technotronic – Bump, Pump & Spank to Switch on Justice: this is some mash-up I found on the internet, really great: intro is from Dr Dre’s Next Episode, verses are from Spank Rock and Technotronic, and it ends with the monster from Justice: Waters of Nazareth.
  3. Chromeo – Fancy Footworks (Guns n Bombs Remix): Chromeo just rules: eighties-like tune, nice vocals, added distorted guitar work by Guns n Bombs, and some police car sirens too. 🙂 By the way, you can download Guns n Bombs remixes from their Myspace!
  4. DJ Mehdi – I Am Somebody: going on with the eighties style and nice vocals!
  5. LCD Soundsystem – Daft Punk Is Playing At My House (Soulwax Remix): abrupt ending of the eighties, bring in the rock from LCD Soundsystem and Soulwax. Nice build up by Soulwax!!!
  6. M.I.A. – China Girl (Diplo Mix): samples Sweet Dreams from The Eurythmics, can’t be bad, but could have been a lot better!
  7. Revlon Spaz Queens – End of Summer: I mixed it in with looping some beats, this song by the Revlon Spaz Queens is just a great way to end!
